Welcome to my home page

Hello. My name is Alan Gossett. I would like to welcome you to my Home page. I am currently a student in the Web Development ATA program at Edmonds Community College. After researching the web training programs in the area, it became readily clear that the EdCC program was the best fit for me and I am very excited to be participating in the Web Development program.

I have prior degrees in Religion/Asian Studies and Sociology. While I was studying for the latter, I had an opportunity to work with a small non-profit group that published a monthly magazine. I gained a lot of experience with print media through that experience. I also discovered that I had a real passion for media development and Information Design. This interest has expanded to include web media. I am enthusiastic about building on my prior experience designing websites, and I'm eager to be gaining a more comprehensive understanding of advanced web development and the technologies behind it.

In addition, I also have a strong interest in both project management and graphic design and I am very excited to have the opportunity to participate in courses and projects that have sharpened my skills in both of these areas as well.

On my site, you will find further information about me including my interests, reflections & my resumé. I invite you to explore my site and encourage you to share any comments and questions with me through my email link.

My Interests

When I'm not thinking about media design, I enjoy photography, camping, travel, reading short stories and books & articles on buddhist philosophy, watching good movies (especially historical period pieces) and home brewing my own beer. (I wish I had discovered this last one earlier!)

Jon, my partner of six years, is currently completing his dissertation in Behavioral Neuropsychology. (I use to think I was kind of smart until I met him…) We also have two cats, a bunch of fish & two rats named Thelma and Louise a.k.a. "Cuddles" and "Puddles". The latter nickname owing to a rather unfortunate continence issue, but that's another story…
