MGMT 270: Project Management - 5.0 Credits

Learn the basics of working in a project team. Students create plans that identify project scope, constraints, stakeholders and risks, then explore customer needs and requirements. Includes an introduction to scheduling. Team and communication skills strongly emphasized.

Spring 2012

CIS 250: Database Theory and Design - 5.0 Credits

Designed to recognize data as a business resource. Database models are discussed from both a programmer’s and a user’s viewpoint. Roles of database designer and administrator will be examined.

CIS 115: Introduction to Programming - 5.0 Credits

An introductory course in programming using VB.NET. No previous programming experience is expected. Topics include designing, creating and debugging interactive, event-driven programs with a graphical user interface and developing problem-solving skills.

Summer 2012

CIS 241: Web Development I - 5.0 Credits

Internet and intranet Web site development using XHTML approached from a source code perspective. Covers tags, forms, linked objects, CSS, frames, tables, and introduction to the use of scripting. Students build multi-page Web sites.

Fall 2012

ART 225: Graphic Design I - 5.0 Credits

Graphic design, its history, imaging and the elements and principles of digital design in visual communication. An introduction to computer graphic design production tools and processes in visual illustration.

CIS 251: Structured Query Language - 5.0 Credits

Covers topics in Structure Query Language (SQL) including statements such as select, update, insert, delete, create. Emphasis on the ability to extract, update and maintain databases using SQL.

CIS 260: Introduction to XML - 5.0 Credits

Topics include how XML is used in Web sites and data storage applications, XSL, incorporating style with XSL and CSS, Namespaces, DTDs and Schemas.

Winter 2013

CIS 233: Systems Analysis - 5.0 Credits

A practical approach to real world systems analysis and design. Includes the systems development life cycle, structured methodologies and project planning. A case study project is analyzed, requirements are written and a systems design specification document is prepared.

CIS 242: Web II Javascript - 5.0 Credits

Continuation of concepts and practice introduced in CIS 241. Topics include: embedding, inline and external scripts, functions, form validation, loops, conditional statements, strings, numbers, and DHTML.

CIS 244: Web IV Introduction to SEO - 5.0 Credits

An intro to Search Engine Optimization and content management for the web. A step-by-step approach to organic and paid search engine optimization. Learn about free statistic collectors and what makes a web site move up in placement.

CIS 243: Web III Introduction to PHP - 5.0 Credits

Topics include: Server-side scripting for web pages using PHP. Students will learn fundamentals of PHP scripting including functions, logical structure, and database connectivity used in creating web sites.

CIS 298: Special Topic - CSS - 5.0 Credits

This was a special class taught one on one by the instructor as a makeup class since I was not initially scheduled to take CSS. As such, there is no official description.

CIS 291: Technology Internship - 5.0 Credits

Worked in the student-led and student-staffed technology help center on campus at Edmonds Community College. Worked on developing a site by which students can request the creation of a student club. This process was previously handled via paperwork, so a website solution was needed.
