I love making things, I always have. When I see a beautiful or interesting piece of artwork I always find myself trying to figure out how it was made.

This year I tried my hand at growing sweet corn from seed. My grandmother says it's in good shape if it's "knee-high by the fourth of July," and it did indeed reach the proverbial height in time. The pollen has dropped and ears are starting to show, I'm excited to see if we can get a few BBQ side dishes out of the effort.

I've been crocheting for the past few years. I've done hats, blankets, and scarves, but my favorite thing to make is little creatures in the amigurumi style. They're adorable animals made with many stitches and lots of patience.

I haven't picked up my offset spatula in awhile, but I do enjoy making sweet treats. From fancy cakes, to no bake cookies, I smile at the idea of tying on my old apron. It looks like my little apple tree might even produce enough fruit to make a pie this year.
