Graphic design, its history, imaging and the elements and principles of digital design in visual communication. An introduction to computer graphic design production tools and processes in visual illustration.
In this class I learned about graphic design and how to use these aspects in my programming. I learned how important color and font are in drawing and keeping peoples interest. Most of what I learned can cross over into Web Development.
CIS 233
A practical approach to real world systems analysis and design. Includes the systems development life cycle, structured methodologies and project planning. A case study project is analyzed, requirements are written and a systems design specification document is prepared.
I learned about how to set up System analysis procedures and what precedes the process of setting a database up. I learned the process of how it starts, what goes on in the sales process of the design and how the process ends before the system is built.
CIS 242
Students will explore the topics of embedding, inline and external scripts, functions, form validation, loops, conditional statements, strings, numbers, DHTML, and an introduction to JavaScript Frameworks. Students build multi-page Web sites using these technologies
In this class I learned basic Javascript and what it can do. I learned functions, array's validation and many other fun things. I built a small site called Pizza Parlor. This class covered all the basics of Javascript.
CIS 244
Students will learn to work with open-source content management systems (CMSs) and search engine optimization (SEO). Topics include Joomla!, installation of Joomla!, creating and updating content, and SEO concepts and techniques. Students will apply these topics while building multi-page websites.
I learned about search engine optimization and its importance to a site and its search rankings. I also learned about Joomla sites and how to build a site with it. I also learned the importance of having Joomla in your tool kit as a developer.
CIS 245
Students will learn the details required to combine CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) with HTML, XHTML, or XML to create rich, powerful websites. Topics include: selectors, cascade and inheritance, text and font manipulation, layout, and positioning.
In this class I learned how to manipulate my site giving it a more powerful look and feel. I learned the many things that you can do in CSS to improve the user experience by giving it add on's and flare.
CIS 246
Students will investigate and use the advanced techniques available in JavaScript frameworks (libraries) such as JQuery, AJAX, MooTools and Prototype.
Here I learned about JQuery , Ajax and how to utilize on my site.I also learned about plug ins and how to use them to create dynamic sections on my website.I earned how to create a printable PDF for my site, about validation and we also discussed how to create your own plug in.
CIS 250
Designed to recognize data as a business resource. Database models are discussed from both a developer's and a user's viewpoint. Topics include: Conceptual and logical models, and data normalization through case studies.
This class taught me about database modeling and what it entails. I also learned how to set up and use MYSQL workbench and a few other tools. i also learned the basic principles of database design.
CIS 251
Covers topics in Structure Query Language (SQL) including statements such as select, update, insert, delete, create. Emphasis on the ability to extract, update and maintain databases using SQL.
In this class I learned how use MYSQL workbench to create datbases and also how to search for different information by writing some simple code. I learned the basics of creating a database to store, and receive information from the database.
CIS 260
Topics include how XML is used in websites and data storage applications, XSL, incorporating style with XSL and CSS, namespaces, DTDs and schemas
Here I learned how XML and XSL play an important part in storing and transferring data. I learned different techniques and procedures in how to create aand use data to communicate results across websites.
CS 115
An introductory course in programming using VB.NET 2010. No previous programming experience is expected. Topics include designing, creating and debugging interactive, event-driven programs with a graphical user interface and developing problem-solving skills.
This class seemed to be more fun than most of my classes. I learned the basics of coding and got to design some fun and interesting programs. this class was my test to see if I had what it takes to be a developer.v
