I am an avid traveler, photographer and gardener. I have always had a love for plants. I used to help my mother around the house with her vast amount of house plants. I used to help water them and replant them. I used to help her out with the out door garden as well. At the house the I grew up in, I had planted about 10 different fruit trees but only one survives to this day. It is an apricot tree, my favorite fruit, which stand about 20 feet tall now. I live in an apartment now so I no longer have an out door garden. I do still have a plethora of indoor plants, some of which I have purchased in Hawaii and Costs Rica and brought back to this cold and gray environment. I am amazed that they have survived for so long.
My interest in photography started at an early age. My grandmother gave me a Spiderman film camera when I was 12 years old. I took that camera with me when I went with my grandparents and younger brother as we drove from Nampa, ID to a family reunion in in Waco, TX. Along the way I took pictures of Arches National Park and some Native American ruins in Colorado. Many years later, my older brother gave me a Canon Elura camcorder for Christmas. Getting this camera really inspired me to start taking pictures again as it also takes good still pictures. I had the chance to really break it in on a trip my partner and I took to the Netherlands and Belgium. We took many pictures all over Amsterdam and Brussels. On the way back to Amsterdam, we accidentally left the camera on the train and that was the end of the camcorder and our pictures. This unfortunate incident did not deter me from my passion. Not long after that, I replaced the camera with another Canon Elura and 2 Nikon SLR cameras and have been much more careful since.
My love for travel really blossomed when I had the chance to take a trip to Alaska. We took the train all the way from Fairbanks to Denali to Anchorage. We had the most amazing time. We had 2 film cameras and ended up with 22 roll of film. Not long after that I got my first digital camera and was able to take many more pictures without having to worry about how much film I was going to have to develop. Since then, with camera always in hand, we have been to Oahu, the Big Island of Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, Cancun, Cozumel, Miami, The Bahamas, Aruba and Curacao, Panama, Costa Rica, New Zealand and Australia. My dream is to someday figure out how to merge photograph, travel and web development into a successful career.
