Steve Taniguchi Exit Portfolio

Hi, I'm Steve Taniguchi - thank you for visiting my electronic exit portfolio. This quarter, Fall 2016, will be the last quarter of coursework for my CIS Web Development ATA Degree. I have been attending Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, WA, since Spring quarter 2015, and have a 3.99 GPA. This portfolio is the culmination of my efforts.

Twilio front desk

During my days, I work as a remote Technical Support Engineer for Twilio - a Silicon Valley cloud communications startup. I work from my home office where I help developers and non-developers successfully use our platform. This may mean helping to debug code, making recommendations based off of their needs, or troubleshooting VoIP audio quality issues. I'm using quite a bit of the skills that I learned here at EDCC every day, including PHP, JavaScript, XML, SQL, and more. The CIS Web Development program has also provided a good base for picking up other languages I see at work like Java, Python, Ruby, C#, and Objective C.

Me & Kim

I'm very fortunate to have found my perfect match in my girlfriend of the last 4 years, Kim. We live together here in Lynnwood with our two Shar-pei pups, Kunu and Manny. Kunu, the black dog, is 9 years old. Manny, the brown dog, is 2 and a half. They're both sweet dogs who love running around in the yard, protecting the house from the garbage man, and taking long naps.

Manny and Kunu

Prior to attending school, I worked at AT&T for almost 12 years. Most recently, I spent 6 years as a Web Content Project Manager. My role was to create online tutorials for new wireless phones that came out, and develop our team's content standards. This project ended up getting outsourced, and I was laid off shortly afterwards. I ended up starting at EDCC 6 days later, and haven't looked back.
