My name is Bruce Norman and I live in Everett, Washington with my wife Judy and daughter Elizabeth. I am originally from Rhode Island and my wife is from Michigan. For the past 15 years I have worked in the aviation industry in production, maintenance, and design. After being laid off for the third time in 7 years, I have decided to seek a more stable career field. I am a full time student at Edmonds Community College pursuing dual degrees in Web Development and Database IT. Many of my hobbies revolve around artistic expression, which is a challenge to me because I am partially color-blind. I have always enjoyed drawing so I think it was only natural for me to transition to digital media. I have some exposure to Photoshop, which I am still learning, and I truly love creating 3D models. This is an extension of my career as a mechanical designer where I used engineering software such as SolidWorks and AutoCad to create models. I am now using other 3D modeling software like 3DSMax and Blender to create models for my new passion: Game Modding. |
For those who don't know, modding allows people to change games to include new functions, objects, or information not originally intended by the developer. This can include new models, textures, animations, and scripts that allow the modder to alter the game world to suit their own vision or desires. The most common form of mods are those that introduce new models and/or textures to the game world. Modders often create content that the developers had never considered or were too limited by scheduling or funding to include in the game. It requires an incredible amount of time and dedication, but it gave me something to do last year when I was in a leg cast for seven months after surgery. I've been hooked ever since. I also enjoy working on my home. I have completed several large projects since we bought our home six years ago, including a major kitchen and master bath remodel and the addition of new piers and posts underneath the house. My wife believes I am happiest when I am tearing things apart so that I have something to fix. |
